GRANTS TO EX-SOLDIERS.
THE STOPPAGE RESENTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association to-night passed a resolution to the effect that it viewed with indignation and 'alarm the temporary stoppage of the Dominion Soldiers' Settlement Act, which, it is considered, was a direct breach of faith. It was of opinion that as the Act was still in force, soldiers were entitled to have thfeir applications received, and it considered that test cases should be instituted, and a writ of mandamus issued (tgainst the Crown if necessary to force the Land Department tc retract from its present attitude.
