ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
MAN SHOOTS HIMSELF. By Telegraph —Press Association. Christchurch, May 10. Robert Cochrane Wilson, a retired builder, aged 69. who recently came from Dunedin on a visit to his son, was found dead on the Port Hils on Saturday with a bullet wound in his forehead and a rifle beside him. Evidence at the inquest disclosed the fact that deceased had announced his intention to go shooting on the hills. A verdict of death due to a self-inflicted bullet wound from a rifle was returned, but there was not sufficient evidence to show whether the shooting was intentional or accidental MAN KILLED BY RUNAWAY. Carterton, May 10. Two young men who were driving in a motor-cycle and side-car, Allan Raine and E. Downes, on Friday last, were run over by a bolting horse and cart- Raine escaped scot free, but Downes suffered a compound fracture of the skull and was admitted to the South Wairarapa Hospital, where he died early this morning.
