RAILWAY DISPUTES.
A CHAIRMAN SELECTEu. SITTINGS BEGIN THIS WEEK. In spite of his very busy week in consequence of the Hoyal visit to Wellington, the Prime Minister found time to confer with the various railway societies in regard to the setting up of conciliation tribunals which are to deal with their several disputes. A chairman acceptable to 'both parties to the dispute has been chosen to preside over the tribunal which is to deal with the wages and conditions of members of the A.S.R.S., and if the gentleman selected accepts the appointment the tribunal is to commence its aittings early this week. The appointment of a chairman is not involved in the E.F.C.A. agreement, but the chairman for the tribunal which is to deal with the Railway Officers' Institute dispute has yet to be selected. Only one dispute, however, can be taken at a time, and it is expected that all arrangements •will have been completed for dealing with this dispute when that of the A.S.RS. has been disposed of.
