SUPREME COURT.

SESSION OPENS TO-DAY. The quarterly session of the Supreme Court at New Plymouth opens at 11 a.m. to-day, Mr. Justice Chapman presiding. The calendar, so far as criminal eases are concerned, is a light one. There are two prisoners for sentence, Harold Gossage Howard Gardner, on charges of breaking, entering, theft, and arson; and Roy Godfrey Tippett, for breaking, entering, and theft. Ernest Parfitt comes up for trial on charges of theft which were adjourned from the last session, and C'has. and Frederick Magon appear on charges of theft, breaking, and entering. The civil list is a fairly lengthy one, and there are five divorce petitions (two of which are defended), and three appeals from Magisterial decisions at Patea, Hawera, and New Plymouth.
