A cable from London says the King and Queen of Belgium are visiting England, they aeroplaned from Brussels to Farnborougli.
A London cable records the death of the Bishop of Durham. He was original of the Rev. Cuthbcrt Clare, in l; Tess of the Durbervilles." His father was the original of Clare's father. A cable from Ottawa says Sir Robert Bnrden (the Premier, who recently retired temporarily owing to ill-health) is returning cured. He expects to re-or-ganise the Government.
A wedding which excited considerable interest took place in the Okaiawa Methodist Church on Wednesday last, when Mr. C. S. Barclay, son of Mr. John Barclay, Bridge of Allan, Scotland, was married to Miss Ella .Toll, eldest daughter of Mr. J. Joll, of Okaiawa.
Among the Press representatives who rive travelling with the Prince of Wales are Mr. Keith' Murdoch, who earned distinction as a war correspondent during tin? great conflict, and Mr. John Sandes, tor iv number of years on the staff of the Melbourne Argus and afterwards on the staff of the Sydney Daily Telegraph. He was- acting as a representative in London for Australian papers when selected to accompany His Royal Highness on the present Australasian tour, The pastorate of the Auckland Baptist Tabernacle, whieii became' vacant upon tlie removal of the Rev, Knowlef.Kempton to Dmiedin in September hut, will shortly be filled. A cable has just been received from the Rov. Joseph W. Kemp accepting the ■ position. Mr. Kemp, who is now in Canada, has occupied important pulpits in Edinburgh and New York, and lias just relinquished the presidency of the Missionary Bible Institute in the latter city. He is expected to arrive in Auckland in August.
The Rev. James Whyte, of Stanmore, Sydney, who has been appointed Roman Catholic Bishop of Dunedin, was Lorn in 180S at Kilkenny, Ireland, and educated ' for the priesthood at StKicran's College. The bishop-elect came to Sydney a few months after his ordination in 1892, accompanied by the present Roman, Catholic Bishop of Forbes-Wiloannia, the Right Rev. W, Hayden. One of-his first appointments under the late Cardinal Moran was that of. Diocesan Inspector of Schools. His promotion to the position of Chancellor of the Diocese was followed by his appointment as parish priest at Stanmore. He speaks French, Italian, OTid German, and he is credited with fine literary taste. For some time he was one of the professors at St. Patrick's College, Manly-
