(From Our Own Correspondent]. The members of the newly elected Harbor Board, .Messrs. T. P.'Hugluon (chairman), M- O'Brien, M. Hiokev C H. Hurst, R. P. Malcolm, rind A.' K.' Brunette, attended the meeting on Wednesday. The chairman presented a report covering last year's work, which was a recapitulation of the difficulties regarding getting a start with harbor construction work. A satisfactory note wan that the procuring of the loan money was practically assured. The delay now is getting the consent of the Marine Department to the plans of confitruetion- The chairman hoped thesu difficulties would he overcome and harbor construction commenced bv next spring. Fearer was elected to fill the vacancy on the Town Board. Mi Feaver polled 94 votes; the other candidate, Mr. P. Hammond, polled 4G votes. Both candidates have been residents ol Opunake for a number of years and aro interested in the progress of the town It is reported that owing to no tender having been received by the Public Works Department for gravel spcciStd for Opunake, the Awatuna residents are prepared to guarantee the provision of Rtavel sufficient to omkl the most important station on the proposed Opunake railway line if the Department is prepared to accept it, conditionally on Awatune being made the important station on the line.

It is reported Mr. B. Bowman ha? Gold Ilia Opua road farm and dairy stock to a Namu road settler. Mr. Bowman intends residing in the suburbs of New Plymouth. Mr. Andrews, proprietor 'of Tgmont Picture Company, waited on the Board and asked that the much-needed and improved seating accommodation be provided in the Town Hall. The chairman intimated that when the public school was completed and the school tenancy of the hall relinquished, the building would be renovated. On Wednesday night Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Thorpe, who will leave Opunake in a few days for England, were farewelled in the Town Hall. There were a large number of people present and the guests were the recipients of suitable mementoes.
