COWARDLY ASSAULT ON A GIRL. By Telezrnph.—rress Assn— Copyrielit. London, May -I. It is recalled that Sergeant M'lvenna (who was attacked and killed) assisted in the arrest of Sir Roger Casement. Seven armed men threatened to hiow up a house in- Tuam, Galway, unless admitted. When the door was opened they dragged a girl from her bed and cut off her hair in the backyard with shears. It is believed the outrage was due to the girl's brother being a soldier in England. The girl's aged father was power, less to interfere.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
