SUCCESSFUL CO-OPERATION. In these days the farming community are realising that their Interests are bound up in co-operation, the benefits of which are becoming more evident each year. An instance in point is afforded by the annual report, of the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., of Hamilton, recently to hand, which shows that during the past year a further allotment of ordinary shares was made, representing 17.802 £5 shares, at a premium of ss, together with 08.580 preference £1 shares at par. This added to the company's working funds £89,710, aud increased the uncalled capital by £67,140. There are at present 4256 shareholders, and a sure sign of the company's success is the steady flow of applications for shares. The company stands to protect farmers' interests in general. It has consistently paid good dividends and imade rebates aggregating £237.850, while it pos-; sesses reserves of over £57,0110, and properties valued at £121,555. The growth of the business has been phenomenal, and a great boon to the farmers. Though the concern is not out to make huge profits, but to carry out tho true principles of co-operation, the net profit last year was £41,953, the turnover i £2,828.643, and the rebates, etc., £41,953 ! It may certainly he regarded as the farmers' provider, for it caters for all their needs, and its branches, stores, and yards are to be found throughout the Waikato and tho ad-, joining country. This co-operntion has, during its thirteen years' existence, had a career : far exceeding all expectations, and has proved to the farming community how co-opera-tion can become a i:' *;ent factor in advancing the welfare and prosperity of the settlers who indicate by the business transacted their entire confidence in Its management. The land department has become an important feature of the company's operations.
