Early this afternoon the Mayor re- | ceived a telegram from Sir William [Fraser, Minister in charge of the arrangements for the Prince's tour, stating that the position was still more hopeful that His Royal Highness could reach Stratford to-morrow, and definite word would be telegraphed later. Acting on the telegram, all preparations for the Prince's visit were gone on with, and the work of | erecting the staging and decorating the town expedited. Up till 5 o'clock no confirmation of the telegram was received by the Mayor. Everything was then in readiness for the Royal visit, but the latest indications are that there is no prospect of the l'rince arriving here to-mor-row. GUN CLUB. The Stratford Gun Club held a very successful shoot on Mr. J. Campbell's grounds, Eltham, yesterday afternoon. There were large entries, and 23 compet- j ed in two out of the four eompetitons | held. Owing to there being a high wind the standard of shooting was lower than usual. Mr. H. Campbell (Stratford) officiated as handieapper and referee. Following are the results of the shoots: No. 1, (i birds.—l. 0. Carlson (Ngaer. l ) 15yds, 6 birds, 1; A. Nelson 10yds, W. Busby 10yds, H. Harrison 18yds, and E. Knuckley 12yds, tied for second plaje with five. Twenty-three competed. Novice Shoot, off 12yds, six birds.—P. Carlson (Ngaerc) and C. Jackson (Stratford) tied with three. Twelve competed. Open Handicap, l.i birds.—A. E. Brown (Mahoe) 14yds and B. C. Wheeler (New Plymouth) 17yds tied with 13 birds; B. Green 10yds, H. Harrison lSyds, and I£. Knuekev 12yds, tied for third money. Twenty-three comp?ted. First Miss Out.—<B. Green won on the fifth round, G. C. Jago 10yds being second. Seventeen competed. A large assortment of the latest and best novels have just arrived at 11.
