INFLUX OF ASIATICS.

PROTEST BY WATERSIDERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. At a meeting of Auckland watersiders to-day, the resolution was adopted:—"That this meeting views with alarm the continued influx of Hindu and Chinese immigrants to this Dominion. We consider the time has arrived when a halt must be called for the following reasons: I (1) That the influx of Asiatics to this country can only have one ending, the lowering of the standard of living of workers; (2) the fusion of Asiatics and whites will produce a piebald population; (3) unfair competition in all trades and callings-; (4) if immigration is permitted, by all means give preference to England, Ireland, or Scotland; and (5) we condemn the Government for its failure to cope with this serious menace, and favor a white, and not a piebald, New Zealand."
