NEW PLYMOUTH MALE CHOIR.

4 PACKED AUDIENCE. The New Plymouth Male Choir faced n P ac ked house when they came on to the stage for the second, night's perlormance of their eighth conceit. They a j7 ®, ' )e con gratulated on the success Attending their latest appearance before the public and may well feel gratified at the support accorded them and the enthusiastic reception given to their items. All their numbers went well and several encores were demanded. -The assisting artists, 2Vliss Milia Uldow (contralto) and the Kcv. A. Ji. Hunt (elocutionist) were again given nattering receptions and both were itcalled several times. Mr. Hunt said lie had been specially requested to repeat the item "The New Hat," given on the first night, and as he had no desire to unduly lengthen the programme he asked the audience to excuse him on that account from further encores. Miss Caldow's best numbers last night were Schuman'a "Lotus Klower" and Albert Mallinson's "0 Thank Me Not," though in such uniformly good work it is hard to differentiate the items. Her singing of "My Heart is Weary" (Goring Thomas) was particularly appealing. Mr. Ashley B. Macdonald substituted "The Aviator" for "The Desert Prayer," and was twice recalled. Mr. Sturrock's accompanying was of the same high degree of artistry for which he is so favorably known, and Mr. McLeod conducted with skill and, efficiency. It may be noted that several members of the Hawera Male Ohoir were present last night, including the conductor and secretary and also their lady accompanist, and they expressed themselves afterwards as very well pleased with the local choir's performance. The matter of a reciprocity movement between tl ese two °'ioirs and the Wanganui choir wii- to in an informal conversation a Fh> r the concert, and it is likely sonic steps will be taken immediately 10 arrange for the three societies to work together in securing first-class artists and arrange their concerts in consecutive order so that the visiting soloists can be engaged to sing in the three centres during the one visit up the line. This would widen the field of selection considerably and also be an economical arrangement.
