WAITARA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) April 26. A train will leave Waltara on the occasion of the Prince of Wales' visit at 6.43 a.m., arriving at New Plymouth at 7.40 a.m., and returning at 3.i3Q p.m. Apart from the hundred or two of children, the train will have to do service for public as well. Arrangements have been made by the chairman of the School Committee whereby the children will be assembled at the Coronation Hail, New Plymouth, for luncheon. * Mr. H. Were, manager of the Bank of New Zealand, i\t Te Kultl, and previous to that at Waitara, has been appointed manager at Suva, Fiji.* The Soldiers' and Civilians' Club Committee report that nearly £2OO Is in hand towards the proposed club, £7B having been raised by the Easter sports and committee, and Ladles' Guild, who received a resolution of thanks at last meeting. The next items on the programme to raise more funas is a musical afternoon in the Clifton Hall, to be followed by a danc, and later a mart will be held. It is believed the necessary cash to start the club will soon be in sight. The examination for theory under the Associated Bortrd of the Royal Academy of Music (London), takes place here on the 29th May. Mr. Campbell is the local representative. The long delayed telephones for new subscribers have' at last been installed. 1 understand there are sufficient now to demand a 10 p.m. service. The churches on Sunday (Anzac Day) held their own individual services, instead of combining as formerly. The cadets and returned soldiers participated in church parade at the English Church in the evening. Mr. Herbert Joll, who was in business here as a grocer for a number of years, has bought Mr. Evan .Tones' drapery business. The shops in Waltara are observing a whole day. on Friday in honor of the Prince, of Wales' vlait, but will keep open on Thurs-, day afternoon for the convenience of the public. I The next ocean-going steamer to load a meat etc., in the roadstead will be the Gallic.. She is expected about the end of May, and will lift about 1200 freight carcases. 1 The Waltara Senior Cadets have orders ta parade on Friday next, when they will en-' train for New Plymouth in connection with I the Prince of Wales' visit. !
