STRATFORD BY-ELECTION.

MR. MASTERS' CAMPAIGN. The following has been supplied:— The hall at Rowan was tastefully decorated on Thursday in Mr. Masters' colors, and the candidate was presented with a pretty bouquet of flowers. The speaker ridiculed the statement that the producer did not pay shipping freights on his produce, and on all the subjects referred to in his address showed he was well versed, being frequently applauded. At the conclusion, Mrs. Neilfien moved, and Mr. R. Willis seconded: 'That this meeting thanks Mr. Masters for his address, and expresses its confidence in him as a sound, commonsense business man to represent the district in Parliament," The resolution was earned unanimously. The usual weekly meeting of Mr. Masters? Stratford Committee was well attended on Thursday night, -and the delegates present were all optimistic. A noticeable feature of these meetings is the large attendance and enthusiasm of ladies. '■ ■ MR. J. B. HINE'S CAMPAIGN. Mr. Hine secured, as usual, a good hearing at Huiroa on Thursday night, when 50 electors assembled to hear his address. Mr. A. Logan presided. The address was on the lines of his previous speeches. Touching on his opponent's complaints, re the visit of Cabinet Ministers, he explained that he was not responsible for this.
