EDUCATION IN BACKBLOCKS.
ONE OP THE DIFFICULTIES. The hardships inflicted on back-blocks settlors by the Education Department regulations in regard to boarding allowance, for children were placed before tl ia .Minister of Lands at/ luglewood yester»ay by Messrs. They also considered the allowance of 5a too small, and held that it should be paid during all holidays. The Minister said that while the matter was not in his department he quite recognised the hardships that settlers in the baek-blocks had to put up with regarding educational matters. Ho promised to place the matter as plainly as possible before the Minister of Education, and he urged the members of tho Board to stress the position when the Minister of Education visited the district.
