COAL MINES DISPUTE. By Telegraph.—rress Association. _, , Wellington, April 21. _ -Hie trouble whicli has arisen over the interpretation of the new national coal mining agreement is stated not to he nearing a settlement. It is asserted that the position is serious and that important developments may be expected in a day or two if the companies do not take action to satisfy the Miners' Federation. It is understood the latter can see no reason for calling together the National Disputes Committee, ns the terms are in black and white and leave no room for difference of opinion. FIRST RAILROAD BOARD. To Awamutu, April 22. The election of the Railway Board to undertake the construction of'a standard gunge railway between Tc Awamutu and lutaruru, connecting the .Main Trunk with the Botorua line bv a shorter route took place yesterday. There were ten candidates. This is the first Railway Hoard elected under the Local Railway's Act in the Dominion.
