BRITISH INFLUENCE FAILS. By Telegraph.—Press Aasn—Copyright. London, April 20. Britain telegraphed to Soviet Russia urging that the remnants of Denikin's army should be treated humanely, pointing out that Denikin's men were' willing to conclude an armistice. The Moscow reply, couched in the politest diplomatic language, evaded the question and urged Britain to bring pressure to bear on Hungary to release the Bolsheviks, including Bela Kun. Britain sent further telegrams, but no reply has yet been received. A representative bodv of leaders of the British Labor Ruty, including Messrs. Henderson, Thomas", Smillic and Sexton, applied for passports to visit Russia. The matter was referred to San Remo. Berlin, April 21. The Russo-Gcrman agreement for the exchange of prisoners has been signed. It is the first official compact between the Bolsheviks and the German Republican Government Two hundred thousand Russian prisoners are now in Germany and have suffered harsh treatment. Copenhagen, April 20. • Aegotiations between the Bolsheviks and Entente representatives have praet'eally failed, partly through want of confidence in Litvinoff and partly through the Bolshevik attitude on the Soviets acknowledgment of the forei<m debt.
