TO BE HELD ON MAY 6ISSUE OF THE WHIT. The writ for the Stratford by-election was issued yesterday, and the election has been fixed to take place on Thursday, May 0. -The electoral roll closed at 0 p.m. yesterday, the number of new enrolments received being 808, which, no doubt, constitutes a recoM for a byelection. The issue of absent voters' permits will not close until the day preceding the election, but already 288 have been issued, as compared with 102 for the general election.
