RE EXCHANGE OF RESERVE T.
To the Editor. , coines as a great surprise to learn that the Mayor has ta.bled a notice of motion to rescind the resolution carried by the Couiicl>l at a previous meeting when the above subject was brought up for consideration. After very full and careful deliberation from all sides the Council decided against any In. terference with the publlc.*reserve, and agreed that the matter should not bo re-operied As the principle Involved Is still the same,' It Is very difficult to follow tho Mayor's attitude. The Council definitely decided that the rukapa Reserve should be retained for what it was originnll.v givon. nnmelv, a pufcPlc reserve and sports ground, and on this assurance arrangements were put In hand to further the project. The site offered tho Council as an oxchange is quite unsuitable for a ■sports ground, as tho amount of money necessary for the laying out Is quite beyond thd Council and sporting bodies I venture to predict that vory strong oppos ti°n will be raised shovf .d the Council decide to uphold the Mayor In the matter,— Thnnking you for tho space, I am etc., P.
