WESTLAND GREAT WAR MEMORIAL.
(To the Editor). i Sir,—X venture to ask space In your reading columns for the purpose of drawing the attention of your ex-Westland renders to the movement to rear a memorial to tho West And soldiers and nurses who made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War- It has been decided to erect a cenotaph on a suitable site in Cass Square, Hokltika, at a cost of not less thnn £ISOO. A winged figure of Victory will surmount the dome of the cenotaph, and under tho dome will be the Stone of Remembriuice whereon the names of the fallen will be carved. Tho sum required for the memorial is to be raised by voluntary contributions within a period from April 15 to April 25, and on the latter date (Anzac Day) tho foundation stone will be laid. Donations from ex-Westilanders will bo received with thanks and imay be forwarded to the Mayor or Town Cleric of Hokltika. The names of Weßtlandborn soldiers who enlisted away and served m any other units, and who fell, should be forwarded to the undersigned for record on the stone of Remembrance.—l am, etc D. .T.
