THE PEOPLE'S. "THE .$o,000,00(1 COUNTERFEITING PLOT." Conan Doyle, the creator of "Sherlock Holmes," was keenly interested in the development and success of "The Five Million Dollar Counterfeiting Plot" and became even more interested when ne knew that the story was to be told on the screen. He was the first outside the actual workers to view the finished picture and was the first to heartily congratulate Bums both on his success as a detective and as a picture producer. Later he put his congratulations into writing and this letter is among the cherished possessions of the great detec tive: "I think my friend Burns is the greatest detective in or outside fiction. It is impossible to imagine Sherlock Holmes and Burns pitted against eacli other. They would both be on the same eide, fighting for law and justice. They have the same principles, the same ideas, and the same genius for the detection of crime."—(Signed) Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. "The Five-Million Dollar Counterfeiting Plot"' commences its local season at The People's matinee this afternoon.
EVERYBODY'S. SESSUE HAYAKAWA IX "HIS DEBT" Sessue Hayakawa. the noted Japanese actor, is a gambler in his latest feature, "His Debt," in which lie is supported by Jane Novak and Wallace McDonald. The Japanese is in love with a girl who, on account of racial barriers, cannot return his affection. He discovers that she is engaged to a man who attempted to take his life, and on whom he. is determined to be revenged, according to his Eastern code. Here indeed is a powerful situation, rendered more so ny the fact that the Japanese holds the other man in the hollow of his hand. He had to decide between the two, and his decision makes a dramatic climax to an interesting problem. "I-lis Debt" is showing at the matinee and night sessions at Everybody's to-day. On Monday a big English production "Choosing a. Wife" will head the bill for this theatre.
