THE POSITION IN AUSTRALIA. By TelesTaph.—Press Assn.—Copyrlcht Sydney, April 10. Giving evidence before the Coal Commission Mr. Ferguson, public accountant, produced ii tabulated statement showing that the adoption of the six-hour day would mean a 50 per cent increase in the price of coal. Factory employees have given the employers a month's notice to abolish Saturday work.
Melbourne, April 10. As the outcome of the fine imposed on the Bricklayers' Union for refusing to work on Saturdays, the Union has been called on to show cause why the award should not be varied.
