PRINCE AND THE WAR. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, April 13. Sir George Arthur's official life of Lord Kitchener records that the Prince of Wales pleaded with Lord Kitchener to permit him to accompany a regiment to the front in 1914, saying: "What matter if lam shot. I have four brothers." Lord replied: "If I were certain you would be shot I do not know whether I should be right in restraining you, but what I cannot allow is the risk of the enemy securing you as a prisoner, find that chance exists until we have a settled line of battle." —Aus.-N.Z. THE GUATEMALA REVOLUTION. Washington, April 14. The Government forces and the Revolutionary army in Guatemala have agreed to an armistice, and peace has been agreed upon, provided President Carbera quits the country. GRAIN ELEVATOR DESTROYED. Capetown, April 14. Fires destroyed the South African Milling Company's .grain elevator at Port Elizabeth, one of the biggest in the colony, andi containing over 4000 tons of wheat. The mishap is considerably accentuated the wheat shortage, and quotations are already advancing. The damage is estimated at £IOO,OOO.
