STRATFORD BY-ELECTION.
MR. MASTERS' CAMPAIGN. THE PROHIBITION QUESTION. At Mr. Masters' Inglewood meeting on Tuesday night, a limy in the audienc: asked the candid at-: a estion on prohibition, which could hardl'v ';,r. heard on 'lie stage. As' i!i<- lad.-, -when appealed to, did not rise to ask iho question again, several of the audience asked the question for her. Evidently the candidate mistook the question "Are you in favor of prohibition':" for "Did you vote prohibition?" as he stated that the ballot, being a secret one, it was had taste for anyone to ask another how he voted, and, further, that the question had been settled by the people for the next three years. lie always favored Prohibition.
MR. JUNE'S CAMPAIGN. The following has been supplied: Over 100 electors greeted Mr- Iline with cheers at Xgaere on Tuesday evening. Mr. .T. F. Saunders was voted to the chair. Mr. Iline rlcait with the graduated land tax- and land settlement, for soldiers. lie advocated increased pav for nurses and that they should he placed, on a superannuation scheme equal to civil servants. Mr- Wm. Morison moved, and Mr. T. Coleman seconded: "That, a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to Mr. Hiiie for his address, renewed confidence in Mr. Hine as a suitable member for the district, and confidence in the Massev Government," which was carried unanimously. Cheers for Mr. Mine, and also for Mrs. Hine for her splendid efforts in the influenza trouble, concluded a most interesting meeting.
