RAILWAY FATALITY.
VISITOR KILLED AT PALMERSTON. By Telegraph—Pren Association. Palmerston N., April 13. An inquest was liekl to-day on the body of the man, John David Robertson, who was found on Saturday night in the railway yard terribly mutilated. Evidence was given by Edwin Ilnrvey. Andrews, engine-drivor, that he was driving a shunting engine at 7 o'clock on Saturday evening when the fireman said: "Stop the engine; we have run over a man." On investigation deceased's body was found. It was then cold. Witness' opinion was that deceased was struck by the trucks. Benfcll. fireman on the engine, said he saw a truck on Sunday in the yard which bore, traces of blood on the wheels. The police evidence showed from deceased's passport that he arrived in tbj Dominion by the Manuka on March 8. He was described as a planter or merchant; his passport was issued in the Straits Settlement. The verdict wa<f that deceased was killed by n row of trucks, no blame boiiur attn/- I "'."in anvoae.
