DOG TRIALS.

MEETING AT AWAKINO. The first day of the Awakino dog trials was held yesterday, in fine weather. There are good entries for all classes, and some good types of dogs are competing. Tlie judge is Mr. J. Scott (of Taihape). The, event decided yesterday resulted as follows: Long Head (46 entries.)—E. Johnston's Xell, 40 points, 1; H. Lambert's Jack, 30 points, 2; A. Rolfe's Fly, 33 points, 3. The judge said the work was fair, but the sheep were wild. Several lota escaped owing to the dogs being slow going out. The trials will be completed to-day.
