SIMS' CRITICISM RESENTED. NO LIVES SACRIFICED. By TeleEinph.—Press Assn.—Copyr'Ebt, Received April R, 2.15 p.m. Washington, April 7. Admiral Rodman, commander of the United States battleship forces with the Grant Fleet, testified before the Naval Committee that Admiral Sims' recent charges constituted an ill-advised attempt to discredit the fleet.—Reuter Service. Received April 8, 9.25 p.m. Washington, April 7. At the investigation of navy affairs timing out of Admiral Sims' charges, Admiral Rodman said he had come to defend the good name of the navy, which viewed Admiral Sims' attack as deserving the deepest censure. Admiral Sims occupied a subordinate position in London as liaiason officer, and possibly arrogated to the office more importance than actually was the case. Admiral Rodman charged Admiral Sims with a breach of confidence in disclosing confidential admonitions. Answering Admiral Sims' charges that half a. million lives were sacrificed because of the Navy Department's delay, Admiral Rodman characterised them as "damned lies." He declared the, statement as ridiculous; nobody was responsible for the loss of life there was.— Reuter Service.
