SHOOTING AT FRANKFORT.
TROOPS FIRE ON THE CROWD. TEN KILLED; FIFTY WOUNDED. Received April 8, 10.5 p.m. London, April 8. Moroccan troops used machine-guns on a crowd in Frankfort, killing ten and wounding fifty. Swiss reports state the crowd hegan the trouble by mobbing French ofliccrs. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. London, April 7. Herr Ebert has protested against the occupation of Darmstadt. The German Government has issued an appeal to the inhabitants to remain calm. The Paris Matin says advices from Frankfort state some German forces, wiiile returning, fired machine guns on the Frencli cavalry. It is believed the incident was due to some individual becoming excited. The commander of the French, in Frankfort, addressing notables of the city, said he hoped it would not be. necessary to use guns or machine-guns. He counted on their influence for the maintenance of peace, and for securing respect for his orders.
