A SCOW MISSING.

FEARS AS TO HER SAFETY. By Telejroph.—Press Association. Whakatane, Last Night. Fears are entertained that the nut* iliary scow Kahu was lost at sea during the storm about ten days ago. She left Opotiki on 24th March. A scow like her .was seen by the T«eman> leeward of the Alderman Island*, two night; later at the height of tlie storm, heading north seawards, showing no distress. The heavy weather and approaching darkness would make it difficult to enter any port. Shs carries a crew of four, namely, J. Leaf*, burg (captain), Samson (owner) engineer; L. Taylor, deck hand; and a boy as cook. The three men are married, and belong to Auckland.

Captain Roff, commanding the Whakatane harbor scow Vesper, formerly commanded the ICahu, and says she is a fairly good sea boat.
