AMERICA AND THE TREATY.

PRESIDENT AND A COMPROMISE. By Telejraph— Press Assn— Copyrisnt. Received April a, 10.50 p.m. New York, April 5. The Washington correspondent of the New York Times says there is some reason to believe President Wilson may return the Treaty to the Senate with an offer to accept certain compromise reservations, before the Senate acts on a joint peace resolution. It is understood the Democrats in the House of Representatives are determined to vote down the peace resolution on the grounds that it is unconstitutional and is a Republican attempt to discredit President Wilson. —Aus.N.Z.
