THE STRATFORD BY-ELECTION
MAJOR HINE'S CAMPAIGN. Tlii- following report is supplied: About 45 electors were addressed bv Major Hiiie at Norfolk Road on Saturday evening, Mr. W. Corney presiding. J-he speaker was well received, and spoke practically on the lines of liis ■lanki speech. He dealt with the emigration policy of the Massey Government, stressing the need for more labor to carry out public works, railways extension, and assist in increased production. He advocated up-to-date laborsaving machinery in our railway works to push the railway works to a successful conclusion. Questions were asked by the audience and were satisfactorily answered. The following motion was nioyed by Mr. Alt Marshall and seconded by Mr. Renowden. and declared carried: That a hearty vote of thanks I- ,nl C (l to Major Hine for his capable address, and full confidence in -Major Hine as their coming member and satisfaction with the Massey Government. At the close of the meeting twenty electors formed a working committee to further Major Mine's return to Parliament. A meeting nf Major Hine's Ngserc working committee was held last week, and reports increased membership and greater enthusiasm. _A general meeting of Major Hine's Rowan and Mahoe friends and supporters will b 0 held in the Mahoe Hall tomorrow night at 8 o'clock. A meeting of Major Hine's lady supporters will be held in the Parish Hall, Stratford, this afternoon at 2.30 o'clock.
