GENERAL BIRDWOOD IN SYDNEY. By Telegraph.—Press AMa.-Copyrleht. Received April 4, 6.5 p.m. ,' Sydney, April 4. Generaf Sir W. R. Birdwood has arrived. He had a most enthusiastic re*' coption. A great body of soldier*, Including several generals, and the public, thronged the streets, and soldiers carried General Birdwood on their shoulders to a motor car, which led a military procession to the Town Hall, where he Was tendered a civic reception. General Birdwood, in a speech, said ha ought not to be thanked for anything he did over there. The most he could, or still can do, .was not enough for tne men, who proved themselves to be the salt of the earth.—Aus.-N.g. Cable Aa«n.
