The acquittal of Meagher,- charged with murdering his wife at Coogee, fol-» lowed on the Judge's comments on the suicide of a man named Fciin two days after Mrs. Meagher's murder. Fenn knew the Meagher's, and was Seen. near their flat. He was in desperate financial circumstances, and .the day before the tragedy he told his wife he would end his life unless lie raised £6O. The .Judge said Fenn may have gone to Meagher's flat, and, failing to get money, killed Mrs. Meagher. The police have not yet solved the Fenn mystery.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. A mysterious tragedy occurred- at Coogee in November last. John Meagher, a man of independent means, and formerly a racehorse owner of Melbourne, stated that he left his wife in toed at 1 o'clock on November 20th. He returned at 4, and found liis wife in bed with her head shattered. A large amount of jewellery was untouched, and there was no apparent motive for the crime. The husband was arrested and oharged with murder.
