When he returned his wife handed him the baby out of (lie window. He got it to safety and, returning again, found, the water half-way up to the window and his wife in a fainting condition. He got his wife and four children on to the roof. Ten minutes later the house was washed away. He seized one child and believed another caught bold of him. He sank, but recovered himself and got to the bank with the youngest child. Another was floating beyond his reach. A verdict of death by a flood, caused bv the excessive rainfall, was returned.
