As compared with the February closing rates we quote merino 10 per cent, dearer, flno crossbred 10 per cent., medium 12% per cent., coarser 10 per cent, dearer, scoured and slipes 5 per cont. and TVs per cent, dearer. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile have received the following cablegram from their London office: "Compared with last sales, the closing rates of prices were higher, about 1\ r 2 to 10 per cent, for coarse, fine medium crossbred and Merinos, except faulty scoured Merinos. (Stratford) report:— At our sale held on Tuesday we catalogued 500 hides and calfskins, the following prices boing realised:—Butcher cow from 21% d to 26V&d; farmers cow, from 20% d to 2liid; cow, slippy, from to 19% d; ox hides from 2u'/itd to 22% d; calfskins from 41% d to 54 1 / id; calfskins, inferior, from 33% d .to 48% d; yearlings, from 21% d to 28*& d; horsehides from £2 to £1 10s; tallow, in tins, from 40s tid to 65s Cd; in casks from 07s Cd to (JBs Gd. SHEEP FAIR AT EURNSIDE. Dunedin, Last Night. The annual ram and ewe fair was held at Burnsldo to-day. The total number of sheep yarded was far In excess of the average of recent years, and quite beyond buyers' requirements. No stud rams of exceptional merit were offered, with the exception of Corriedales, which were in very short supply. Abattoir ox hides advanced from Id to l%d per lb., whilst cowhides, calfskins, etc., also showed a rise on last sale rates. The following prices were obtained: Abattoir ox hides, averaging (illbs, 24d per lb, ditto 47 to 55 lbs . 23y.d to 23* Ad; abattoir cow hides, averaging 3(j to 43 lbs. 21% dto 22d; abattoir yearlings, averaging 10V6 lbs, 33% d; yearlings, 18% d to 21Vsd; horsehides, 17s (id to 30 s each; calfskins, firsts, 49d per lb, seconds, 47d to 48% d, cut. 45d, slipy 31d, cut and sllpy 29% d; tinned tallow realised from 41s to 07s per cwt.
