ENTERTAINMENTS.

EVERYBODY'S. ! MABEL NORMAND IN 'UPSTAIRS." "Upstairs," a screaming ragtime romance, provided a golden opportunity for the vivacious comedy queen, Mabel Normand, to display the abundance of Iter lively stage humor at Everybody's last evening. Mabel opens with a sidesplitting scene below stairs at a cabaret hotel, where she makes ice-cream moulds and prepares. the grape-fruit for the high-steppers "tlps'iair-s." A millionaire falls in love with her, and presses his suit in the disguise of a "buttons." The following scenes find Mabel, in borrowed plumes, dancing the "shimmy" dance with the best of them and creating uncontrollable merriment. Then a spice of adventure is introduced, and Mabel docs some weird stunts with express elevator and a chandelier, incidentally outmanoeuvring a detective and a crook and winning a husband. An exciting episode of the "Stingarco' serial is included in the programme, which shows for the last time to-night. THE PEOPLE'S. ETHEL CLAYTON IN "PETTIGREW'S GIRL." To-night's new bill at the People's presents the ever popular and beautiful Ethel Clayton in "Pettigrew's Girl," a vibrant story of the life of a chorus girl. Are chorus girls vamps? Do they get all they can out of men because they' love /men or because they love luxury? Interesting enough questions, but this picture answers them both. Pettigrew's girl places the spotlight on the inner workings of the heart, and brain of the chorus girl, a member of a class which is very much misunderstood. Miss Clayton.is supported by Monte Blue and a strong cast. The bill includes latest gazettes, comedy, and pictograph.
