JEWISH POGROMS. j Over so,ooo murdered. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, March 25. A harrowing description of the Jewish pogroms in South Russia last year is detailed in the Kieff Relief Committee's report. Over 30,000 were murdered in the Ukraine, of which number the murder of 15,000 was ascribed in Petloura's regulars, especially when the troops were compelled to evacuate the territory. Altogether 372 places were registered where pogroms occurred and bring the total to 70,000 victims. Numbers died in their wauderings after having been thrown out of express trains. Women were frequently violated before they were slain. Only bayonets were used, because of the expensiveness of cartridges. Grenades were thrown into cellars where the Jews were hiding- The Reds' tortures included "the tearing off of beards with specially adapted wire.— Imperial Service.
SQLDIERS FROZEN TO DEATH. London, March 24. A Bolshevik communique states that over 16,000 enemy soldiers were found frozen to death on the Steppes. POLES DEFEAT BOLSHEVIKS. Copenhagen, March 24. The Polish General Staff announces a great victory in the counter-attack against the Bolsheviks in the Volhynia district. The enemy has been thrown back along the entire line a considerable distance in great disorder. Thousands have been taken prisoner, mcluding the staff of the 57th Bolshevik Division, while one entire regiment surrendered. The Poles also captured an armored train, thirteen 'river steamers, and much material. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
