Commenting on Government officials' inefficiency in discharging meat from steamers, the paper Fairplay gives details of twenty-four steamers with Gov-ernment-owned frfleen meat arriving at the end of 1919, which were detained in port an average of thirty days in excess of the normal time- It was also stated that twelve steamers which arrived in 1919 are still awaiting discharge. It is pointed out the loss in the earning power of these steamers represents an almost fabulous sum.—Aus.NZ. Cable Assn.
