MYSTERY OF WOMAN'S DEATH
FOUND DEAD IX PALMERSTON. SUGGESTION OP MURDER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston North, March 25. , Tlie coroner's inquiry opened to-day concerning the circumstances under which. Mary Etheline Webby, married woman, met her death,' she having been found with her throat cut on Thursday morning last in an unformed street between Fitzroy and Ruahine Streets. Medical evidence showed that there was a deep transverse incision across the neck extending from a point two inches below the level of the left ear to a point three inches below that of the right ear. At the left extremity the wound was two jagged cuts, at the right extremity one jagged cut. The abdominal organs were quite healthy. There were no other marks on the body. Considerable |orce must have been used to effeef the injuries to the throat. It was possible for them to, have been self-inflicted, but the absence of ony instrument ivculd preclude this theory. , A considerable amount of evidence was given by a witness, who saw deceased during the day. Evidence was given by Percy Daniel Wills of seeing deceased in the company of a man near to where the body was found on the evening preceding the tragedy. Next morning when he 'was proceeding to milk the cows, Wills found deceased's boJ.il aiK ' informed the police. At this stage the inquiry was adjouraed to Tuesday next.
