Mr. Havelock Wilson has issued a manifesto to the National Sailors' and Firemen's Uni. n asking them to vote against the nationalisation of shipping, because State control would not mean better wages for sailors or better food. FREIGHTS AND COAL. I London, March 22. The Australian Press Association learns that the reduction in the price of coal is not likely to cause a corresponding reduction in Australian freights. Shipowners point out that when the present freights were fixed in February, 1919. bunker coal cost about 40s per ton. The present reduction Is largely due to shipowners' representations. They are not yet satisfied, and are pressing for a further reduction. OVERSEAS SETTLEMENT. • London, March 23.
