Usually the Rangltlkel Racing Club's annual meeting takes place in dry, summery weather, with a track like asphalt, and lawns burnt to hay, but this year's meeting, which takes place to-day and to-morrow, will see very different racing conditions. Heavy rain fell last week, and again on Monday night, and the weather has been cold and stormy. The racing, track is in perfect condition to-day '(Tuesday at noon), but no imore rain is needed. The lawns also are looking very nice, but the larger enclosures are a trifle rough In consequence of the carting, etc., dtfe to the hasty erection of various improvements already mentioned. The total!sator house was completed on Monday, and Mr. Geo. Spriggens, who inspected the building, pronounced it Al. The water tower, conveniences, fencing, etc., are also finished, and everything should be in smooth working order for the meeting. Accommodation is taxed to the utmost, and fields promise to be good all round. The boarding facilities at the course, and the splendid horse boxes near by are crowded. The Club is doing everything possible for visitors, but many who neglected to order accommodation in advance will be forced to go to Marton and other centres.

Proceedings open with tha Scott Memorial Handicap, six furlongs, fo" which nine are carded. ■ Affectation and ABtinome will put UP 51b penalties, and with Blndlc, All Over, Bonny Hrtar, Bsmcm; Park, end Xtaritaa Sister also likely starters a, good race Is certain. Astlncirae is nominal favorite, but Blndle and Affectation will also be well supported. Linetta, Bayberry, Patrotrim, lliu.ranpt, Aotearoa, an 4 Cifleff have been withdrawn from the Trial Plate, and the overflowing field might be further lessened with advantage. They aro a very rough crowd, but with a start Jolly Cove, Achtllion and Miss Love '.might nm prominently. Late scratchings for the Ohakea Hurdles are Padding-ton Green and Chorister. The issue appears to lie between Sweet Tipperary, Khartoum, and Endure, but the writer would not be surprised to see Slgnorella, who looks very fit, upset the pot. Lady Paula will be an absentee from the Carnarvon Handicap, but a big field Is certain.. Ruddy, Orawla, Irapuka, He'pla, and Tempo all have friends, and Irapuka and Hepta read best at. the weights.

Marquetcur and Demos nre reported to be unlikely starters In the Uangltlkei cup, but Nobleman, Lovematch, Rose Wreath, and Moutoa Ivanova will ail be saddled up. Bcso Wreatth Is reported to have a large backing, and la very smart on the sharp turns at Bulls Moutoa Ivanova and Lovematcli must also be reckoned with, but the latte.- would probably show to greater advantage on a bigger course. Npl>lem»n may bo all the Setter for a race

Willy's Knight and The Digger have been scratched for the Pukenul Walter, aud Valencia and Master Curran will both put up 71b penalties. Rlslngham's weight has also gone up to 10.4. The race looks very opsn. but Blslngham, Farce, Persian Prince and Qulnlro will all have friends. Old Gold carries 51bs extra In the Parewanul Welter, but Zola and Pretty Bobby are the most discussed candidates. Zola looks a picture.

In the Ngntlapa Handicap, Sweet Memory will carry 10.1, American Beauty.B,7, and Horl 7.10. The withdrawals Include Lady Fault, Alice Montrose, and Merry Andrew. Irapuka (If reserved), Sweet Memory, and Plying Master will all have to be reckoned with.
