COAL MINERS IN SYMPATHY, "WILL NOT LET COMRADES STARVE." By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, March 23. Mr. Arbuekle, secretary of the Miners' Federation, referring to tho Waihi miners ceasing work, states that the coal miners are'affiliated with the gold miners, and will not allow the Waihi gold companies to starve their employees out. He would favor the Miners' Federation assisting the wives and children of the gold miners to remove to coal mining areas, where the men would be able to earn money more in keeping with the cost of living. He adds that tlie Waihi men turned down the owners' offer and asked for another conference, which was refused. Mr. Massey was then asked to call another conference, and agreed to do all he could to assist in securing a settlement.
