ELTHAM.
(From Our Own Correspondent). The football season will open at the Park on Thursday next. There was a good attendance at the sw.-mming carnival at Mr- Tristram's gardens last week. The events were well contested, and provided a good afternoon's amusement. The grounds were in splendid orr'.er, and much admired. The Eltham Brass Band was in attendance, and played several selections during the afternoon. The Eltham Druids met on Thursday night, when a. candidate was duly initiated. The Lodge is generally improving. 1 The {Jovernmer.t officials in connection with house building were in town last week Several people are waiting to get a start. Sections have been secured in several instances, and applications put in, so wo are hoping a start with building will soon be made.
