In continuance of the action taken re sweepstakes, cabled on February 15, the Home Office is prosecuting two British officers for selling tickets in a socalled £25,000 grand national sweepstake organised by the British Services Club at Boulogne in aid of British and French war charities. The prosecution admitted that this sweepstake was bona fide. Defendants said they had seen the Home Secretary, who suggested that if the sweepstakes were held it should be abroad. The Hom e Secretary intends to suppress all sweepstakes. 'He has already prohibited a Stock Exchange eweepstake on behalf of St. Dunstan's Hospital.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
