POLITICS IN AUSTRALIA.
NEW SOUTH WALES ELECTIONS. THE POLLING TO-DAY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Marek 19, 10.35 pm. Sydney, March 1!) Although there appears very little outward sign of enthusiasm regarding the elections, big crowds «i tended .the finr.l rallies. The Nationalists' appeal strikes a note of confidence as tho winninir party. Mr. Hoi ma n (the Premier) stated he never- knew of a campaign of slander and misrepresentation which misacrried more fatally. The people refused to believe that the members of the National Government were a band oi criminals. The Labor appeal says that if the anti-Labor forces win the State will be controlled by immoral alliances and Intrigue. Direct notion is reaction, and its slogan is to destroy. There are 313, candidates standing in twenty-four electorates at to-morrow's polls, representing Labor, Nationalists, Progressives, Soldiers and Citizens, Independents, and Democrats. The couning of the preferential votes is likely to be a long process, and it will pos» sibly be some time before the final resuits are known.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
