(From Our Own Correspondent). March 15. The popular annual social in honor of "St. Patrick," held in the Town Hail this evening, was a great success. The hall was crowded, there being a hundredj couples on tiie lioor. The music was supplied by Fox's Urelie&tru, and was of the best, and the supper arrangements, under a committee of ladies led liy Mrs. i>. Nies, were splendid. Songs were contributed by A!iv ; . Xodder, Aliss Mooney, Mr. Loftus, and Air. J. Halpiii. all being well received. The AFs.C. were .Mrs. Alurchant and Air. J. llalpin. The death on f-jumlay of Alls. W. S. AlcLeod, oi (,'hibelluir.st. The deceased lady, who had been in bad health for a long time, was well known and widely respected. Private F. J. Andrews and Sergeant Pointer arrived in town during last week. Both are doing well. Private Andrews-leaves here to-mi>r-row to visit relations after a long absence. v Another old landmark has gone in the cottage that stood on the section behind the Farmers' Co-op. It lias been dismantled and railed away. I believe, ty VVaitara. Anything in the building line is saleable nowadays. .\lr. J. Railway fares have risen 50 pe cent., and another rise of 50 per cent, will take place shortly.
