CIVIL BUSINESS. In the New Plymouth Magistrate's tourt yesterday, before Mr. T. A. 11. Bailey, S.M., judgment' for plaintiff by default was given in the following undefended cases:-R. W. Currin (Mr. C. If broker) v. Hector Parkos, £2 2s (costs 10s); T. P. Hughson and Son (Mr. A. A Bennett) y S v. Martin, £4 Is (costs His); Hughsons Ltd. v. same, £2 8s (costs 10s).

On the application of plaintiff the claim w.-i, amended to £7r, lis 5 .1. From the evidence it transpired that the parties had entered into a partnership and carTiad on business ms plasterers from September, lONS, to March, 1917. No bank account was kept, and the only books of the partnership were kept bv a daughter of the plaintiff From these and a statement of the position drawn up by defendant, when the partnership was said fo have been dissolved, it was difficult for those concerned to arrive at a proper conclusion as to the actual position. An accountant for defendant had examined the books and prepared a statement in which he showed nothin" owing to plaintiff, while the latters accountant made a sum over £SO due bv defendant. Subsequently the hearing was adinnrncd bv arrangement in order to give the parties an opportunity of arriving at a settlement.
