A RETURNED SOLDIER INJURED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, March 13. A curious and serious accident occurred at Riddiford's station at Te Awaite, as the result of which a returned soldier, named Corbell, now lies in the hospital in a critical condition. Corbell was carting firewood to the station and chopped the reins and stopped (he wagon, but while lie was endeavoring to recover the reins the horses moved on and the man slipped and fell and somehow the wagon overturned, Corbell being buried in the wood. He remained unnoticed for twenty minutes and was then extricated in a serious condition and taken to the station and attended by a medical visitor. The passing coastal steamer Ripple was signalled and picked up the injured man and brought him to Wellington.
