The Argus office, a large two store/ wooden building, was gutted by fire at ten o'clock this morning. . The fire originated in the store room and had a good hold when the brigade arrived. The building was saved, but} paper and, books wera destroyed, Moveable parte of the machinery were saved, but much damage was done by Are arid water. The Argus was recently bought by the Labor Party. A FACTORY DESTROYED. FURNITURE LOST IN CHRIST CHURCH. Christchurch, Last NightThe furniture factory of Messrs Peppier Ltd., a large two storey wooden building in Sydenham, and its contents, were destroyed by fire last night. A new brick factory adjoining was saved. The insurances include £2,300 on the building, £2,67;) on the machinery and contents in the Norwich Union Office., and £1,225 on the machinery and the contents in the Alliance Office.
