Kmpty cows nnd bolters, £5 10s to £9; bulls, £0 to £l3 15s, according to weight and quality. Dairy cows and heifers penned in large numbers, sold under spirited bidding to high values.' At Ngatea on Friday fat cows sold from £9 10s to £l3 10s; small fat steers, £l2 15s to £l3 ss; very forward cowa, 1£8U153 to £9 2s Bd; other cows, £4 5s to £S 2s 6d; yearling; to 18-month heifors, £3. 6s to £4 15s; older heifors, £6 10s to £BT» Od; yearling to 18-raonth steers, £3 15s to £(i; 2 to 2%-year steers, £6 10s to £8 7s tjd; calves, best £1 10s to £2, others £1 upwards.
On Wednesday at Westfleld fat stock market, beef was penned in average numbers, amongst them a good many second Quality. Competition was very keen, prices advancing. Choice ox sold to £2 19s per 1001b, prime £2 15s to £2 18s per 1001b, rough and Inferior ox £2 9s to £.2 14s per 1001b. Cow and heifer beef sold at from £2 8s to £2 14s per 1001b. Steers sold at from, for best £l9 to £25 17s 6d foe a pen of steers from Mr. H. E. Reed, Waerenga, others £l3 to £lB 15s. Cows and heifers sold at from £8 to file. Calves came forward In largo numbers, every pen being filled. Notwithstanding the large supply prices were good, improving as the sale progressed, and finishing firm at last week's improved rates. Runners sold from_£s to £8 10s for a choice 5--months heifer*from Mainland Estate; heavy vealcrs £7 8s to £7 19a, medium £3 5s to £4 7s, light £2 2a fid to £3 4s, lighter fat calves £1 5a to £2 Is, fresh dropped 15s to £1 4s, unfinished calves £1 5s to £1 15s. Pigs continue to sell at very high rates for porkers ami baconers, more especially the latter. Heavy baconers sold to £8 ss, medium £7 5s to. £8 4s, light £0 5s to £7 4s; heavy porkers £5 to £'6 4s. medium £4 to £4 ISs, lighter £3 lCs upwards. No weaners penned. Sheep were penned in average numbers and sold under keen competition at slightly Improved prices. No extra hpa.vy wethers or ewes were penned. INGLEWOOD STOCK SALE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) There wna u thronged audienco and a very large number of stock at Wednesday's Farmers' sale at Inglewood. Taken all round it was a hard sale, one contributing cause, no doubt, being the congested condition of the various freezing works as well as the fact that the graziers are not yet keen to stock up with young cattlo. Some lines, however, continue in favor, which is notably the case with young, as well as fresh mouthed owes, well-grown in-calf holfers showing Jersey strain and Jersey heifer weancru. Strong young grade Jersey bulls, too, wero wanted, but no sufficient supply on hand. Though the sale was an up-hill one a large share or the stock was sold. Mixed weaners made from £1 15s to £8 9s—the fewer steers in the blend the better. Jersey weaner heifers sold as high as £5; Holstelns £2 15s, heifers (In-calf) readied £l2, dairy heifers from £lO 10s to £ls, cows from £l2 to £2s—the latter price for a grade Jersey with calf newly born at foot. Bulls sold at from £5 to £l3, according to size and condition, grade Jersey bulls up to £ll, store cows from £7 to £lO las, culled lambs went for 9s, woolly lambs 18s and good shorn 14s 3d to 15s, twotooth wethers 27s 3d, 2-tooth ewes 25s to 275, good sound mouthed awes 20s to 25s 2d. At Mangamingi on Monday we held our supplementary sheep fair, about 4,000 sheep being yarded and practically all sold: Quotations: Best breeding ewe 3 28s (Id to 255, culls do. 12s 6d to 15s, 4 and 6-tooth wethers 31s 6d to 32s 9d, 2-tooth do. 26s to 289, woolly lambs 15s. 6d, shorn do. 12s 6d, cull do. 9s. At Mann la yards on Tuesday there was a fair yarding, everything being sold. Quotations: Good store pigs £3 12s Cd, lighter do. £2 10s to S3 103, weaner pigs 15s to £1 2s, fair lambs lis 9d, in-calf heifers (S.H.) £8 12s 6d, fat cows £ll 10s, forward do. £9 7s, store do. £0 15s to £7 19s, weaner heifers £2 and £2 6s, bulls £7 15s to £9, school pony £7. At Stratford on Tuesday there was a good' yarding of sheep and cattle.
