THE ADRIATIC.
ATTITUDE OF JUGO-SLAVIA. REPLY TO THE ALLIES. By Telejraph.—Press Assn.—'Copyright. Received March 3, 10.35 p.m. Washington, March 2. The State Department lias published the Jugo-Slav reply to the Anglo-French memorandum of January 14, The Jugo-Slavs accept in principle the independence of Fiumc, but demand that Baross be attached to Jugo-Slavia. The reply points out that further annexation of territory would be a flagrant violation of the principle of nationalis-. ation, nnd would create a hotbed of irredentism. Jugo-Slavia does not insist that Zara should be placed under Jugo-Slav sovereignty, but it cannot admit that Fiume and Zara have a right to use their diplomatic representative, pointing out that if the choice lay with Italy it would amount to annexation. Regarding Albania the Jugo-Slavs aay the best solution would be to confine the administration to a local autonomous Government without interference by foreign Powers.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
